Finish Machining Expansion
Press Release: February 2013 (Updated)
Harrison Steel is proceeding to invest nine million dollars in an onsite finish machine shop. The building will be 29,000 square feet. The first machining center installed will be our new Mazak V100 finish machine tool. The building is being built with the expectation that additional machining centers will be brought online over the next several months, depending on the needs of our customers. This first phase of this project, including the Mazak V100 being online, is schedule to be completed by January 2013. Decrease the Cost of Your
Machined Parts
Complexity adds cost. Which is why, if you can simplify a process, you will generally save money, sometimes big money.
Harrison Steel's turnkey machining solutions are designed to simplify this critical operation for our customers, preserving precious financial resources and reducing production time. Rather than having to ship castings to an off-site machine shop, Harrison Steel gives provides both rough and finish machining in our plant, saving customers the time and cost of shipping parts off-site to another supplier.
There are other benefits to our turnkey solutions. We maintain tight controls over quality and have the ability to track every part produced. Should there ever be a problem, it can be resolved immediately without the back and forth shipping required with an off-site machine shop. Too, having one supplier cast and machine your parts simplifies purchasing and financial administration.
Your resources are precious. To discuss this and other cost-saving solutions, contact Kevin Cherry, Business Development Manager.

Machining
Harrison Steel operates rough and finish machine equipment, giving our customers options on how cast parts are finished prior to delivery. There are two areas capable of machining castings up to 6,000 pounds and the second for castings up to 14,000 pounds. Our expert machine shops can meet specific tolerances; from /- .75mm for rough machining to /- .05mm for finish machining of assembly ready parts. This is made possible through statistical process control (SPC) that ensures we manufacture and machine the part as intended by the customer’s specifications. Learn More about statistical process control.
All CNC programs are generated with a Gibbs Cam using customer-supplied drawings. We also design and fabricate our own fixtures and tooling for machining. Having these capabilities in-house saves customers time and cost.
